Senior Community Service Employment Program

We provide job skills training and instruction services to those seniors, 55 years of age or older, who for different circumstances find themselves entering the work force again after a period of unemployment. This is a paid training experience at 20 hours per week.  Training is provided a variety of community positions including: Social Service non-profits, Schools, Libraries, Daycare and Senior Centers, Government agencies, Healthcare Centers, and Goodwill retail outlets.

    Goodwill® proudly participates in the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP), a national employment and training program funded by the U.S. Department of Labor. A $22,011,223 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor provided 90 percent of the funding for Goodwill’s SCSEP programs in the program year 2020. Goodwill’s provided the remaining 10 percent through in-kind contributions worth $2,201,122. See http://www.goodwill.org/scsep/ for funding details. Goodwill Industries of Tenneva Area, Inc. received a sub-award of $536,360.00 and is contributing in-kind contributions valued at $62,452.40 to cover the remaining 10 percent of operational costs.
    In Tennessee we provide services under Host Agency Agreement as part of the program held by First Tennessee Human Resource Agency at our retail stores to provide training in retail skills; customer service, stocking, pricing, and general janitorial.
